Winter North Atlantic

Winter North Atlantic are a three piece instrumental band fusing elements of electronic and post-rock, creating music which has variously been described as cinematic, elegiac and reminiscent of western soundtracks.

As part of their commission for Durham Brass Festival, we worked with WNA to produce a series of eleven motion graphics (one per song in the set plus a holding loop) and promotional photography for the band. The sole source material for the visuals comprised of a collection of security patterns taken from envelopes which when overlaid and manipulated became hypnotic. Viewed collectively, their individually-simple patterns became complex forms, with the layers and movement warping gently in time with the music.

These visuals were projected above the band as part of the final performance (as can be glimpsed below), as well as used for subsequent tour dates.
