Its only 912 hours (or 38 days depending on how you look at it) until Press Play Festival launches on Friday 24th September. Were really delighted to be involved designing the branding, website and brochures, as well as getting to collaborate on the ident with the hyper talented Keith Daniels of Preamptive.

The programme is looking awesome with highlights include the geniously monickered Half-Murraython (13.1 hours of Bill Murray films non-stop),  an all day Ride In Movie (with help from the super cool Whip Bikes), a Christopher Guest double bill (“…It’s such a fine line between stupid and clever…”) and as the illustration above may suggest, a Bugsy Malone in-costume sing-along.

The folk behind Press Play are all doing this on a purely voluntary basis in addition to their uber busy professional schedules, working across all facets of the North East region’s cultural and creative scenes. Just because they love film, and just because they can. Their dedication is a really inspiring and infectious thing.

Beautiful colours part 2: took this photograph of the stunning landscape near Highgreen in Northumberland after visiting Janet and artist in residence Jilly Morris at VARC (Visual Arts in Rural Communities) to discuss the catalogue for her forthcoming exhibition.

Im always awe struck by the silence, the incredible panoramas and the tones of this space. It must be profoundly inspirational to create from here for the duration of the year long residence, even a short visit is enough to make you reflect on how fortunate you are that this constitutes ‘work’.

Were super excited to be involved with the ID, web and print design for Press Play Festival, a brand new film festival in the North East with a focus on showing only great films from the past (Rewind), present (Pause) and future (Fast Forward), as well as a strand especially for young audiences (Mini Jack).

Run by a group of festival and cinema programmers, technicians and producers, the Press Play guys and girls are doing this for the love and the programme is already looking unbelievable, a grand mix of films, events and unexpected goings-on.
